Ellensburg's Commitment to Energy Conservation
Over the past 34 years, Ellensburg has been one of the Northwest leaders in energy conservation. During the BP16 2 year rate period our light utility, with funding from Bonneville Power Administration, completed over $561,551 in conservation projects for an overall energy savings of 3,601,423 kWh per year.
Conservation projects include; weatherization, commercial lighting and starting in 2017 Heat Pumps of all kinds. (See 2017 Energy Services Annual Report)
October 1, 2017 is the start of a new $483,565 budget cycle with BPA. Projects will be taken on a first come first serve basis until funding is fully committed. The small business promotion ended September 30, 2017. LED incentives continue to be very popular and have a significant impact on overall energy consumption while improving lighting quality.
